Overview

As a senior member of Freeman’s Specialist Team and head of a key department you will be at the heart of the development of Freeman’s business in the local, national and international markets in which it operates.

The M&C Department has been a part of the Fine Art Department for several years, but it now needs additional energy and vision to achieve its full potential. Therefore by utilizing your specific expertise you will lead the department by example, oversee, develop and encourage your team to achieve their goals as you build & maintain an efficient, profitable department that functions in compliance with the company procedures and philosophies. You will work closely with the Chairman, as Head of the Fine Art Department, on consignment getting projects for the benefit of the Company as a whole.

You will create a development plan, working with the CEO, Chairman and CMO, in which fresh ideas and opportunities can be outlined for implementation and delivery. The objective is to achieve expanding departmental targets and budgets in the years to come.


Responsibilities

    • Primary responsibility for managing, developing and expanding the M&C department sales programme throughout the year comprising single owner, fine and secondary curated sales.

    • Be the principal auctioneer for your department and work with colleagues on other fine sales.

    • Achieve personal business winning goals as well as working closely with team members, other departments, company representatives and external referral sources to achieve departmental targets.

    • Consider departmental resource requirements and create plans for changes including budgetary and objective based justifications.

    • Manage department team members, including undertaking performance reviews, overseeing training and development needs.

    • Liaise with Marketing and Business Development to create an annual marketing campaign for the purpose of soliciting consignments and attracting new buyers


Ambassadorial Role, to include but not be limited to:

  • Presence / involvement at social and industry related events

  • Development of private, trade and institutional relationships

  • Give evening / weekend talks etc. to selected groups, societies and clubs etc.


Initial Goals, will be finalised and agreed in a Development Plan that will be first discussed during the recruitment process.


Work Environment

  • Face paced and collaborative team environment which, although based in offices in Philadelphia, often working remotely in New York and elsewhere.
  • Regular travel across the US to visit clients as well as use of video meeting for efficient use of resources.
